The person in this position is responsible for ensuring that the UGAMI campus on Sapelo Island, GA is compliant with all environmental safety requirements; provides for safe and responsible use of laboratory facilities by researchers and visiting classes; supports research activities; and provides administrative support. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.
The minimum qualification for the position is a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience; however, candidates with an advanced degree in Marine Sciences or a related scientific field with significant experience working in a laboratory setting will be the most competitive. Let us know if you have any of the following useful skills or training: laboratory safety regulations and reporting requirements; laboratory and field experience (including small boats); experience with research permitting; experience with aquaria or other flow-through systems.
Location: This position is located on Sapelo Island, GA, which is accessible only by ferry. On-site housing may be available.
Physical Demands: The position will occasionally require working outside in all seasons and weather conditions. Must be able to stand and sit for long periods, and to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Hours: Typically, 8:30 – 5:00 M – F, with irregular hours as needed depending on laboratory demands.
Salary Range: $45,0000 – $50,000
